How to Brew the Perfect Cup of Sencha Green Tea

by Organic Chef Tom

I’m a green tea drinker over coffee. Every morning I brew up a tasty cup of Mitoku Organic Sencha Japanese Green Tea grown by the Nagata family. First things first, loose green sencha leaves make the best tasting cup of green tea. I use a Trendglas 5 Cup German Glass Kettle to boil spring water right on my gas stove-top. This kettle boils a full pot of water in less than 10 minutes. I also use a small stainless steel strainer to strain the tea leaves.

• 1 heaping teaspoon organic loose green sencha tea
• 1 cup 8 oz boiling spring or filtered water

  1. Bring water to a boil, shut heat and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Pour water over green sencha tea leaves, cover, and let sit for 3 minutes. Strain and enjoy.

TIP: You can make a second cup of tea by repeating the steps above using the same tea leaves and just let sit until you finish your first cup. Strain and enjoy.
